For the benefit of the farmers of West Bengal State, the Chief Minister of West Bengal that is Mamta Banerjee has come out with the Krishak Bandhu Scheme which will be eligible for all of the farmers of West Bengal state. KRISHAK BANDHU SCHEME RELAUNCHED

The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee has launched WB Krishak Bandhu scheme in order to provide financial assistance to farmers in 2018. The Chief Minister has now decided to relaunch this scheme. On 17th June 2021 it was announced that the financial assistance under this scheme will be doubled. Previously farmers used to get Rs 5000 per annum for land holding of one acre or more. Now farmers will get Rs 10000 per annum doubling its benefits. Doubling the benefit of WB krishak Bandhu scheme was a part of the election manifesto of Trinamool Congress. Through this scheme around 68 lakh farmers will be benefited.

DOUBLING OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SMALL AND MARGINAL FARMERS

Financial assistance for small and marginal farmers will also be doubled under the WB Krishak Bandhu scheme. Those farmers who have cultivable Land below 1 acre will get Rs 4000 per annum instead of Rs 2,000 on a Pro-rata basis. Krishak Bandhu scheme came into effect in 2018 and till February 2021, 1500 crore has been spent for implementation of this scheme. Other than that if a farmer dies within the age limit of 60 years then under this scheme the farmer will be provided a death benefit of Rs 200000.

The main objective of WB Krishak Bandhu scheme is to provide financial assistance to the farmers of West Bengal state. Under the scheme along with financial assistance, a life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh will also be given to the beneficiaries. With the help of the financial incentives provided by the government, the families of farmers will become self-dependent in such a way that they are not required to depend on others for their needs. BENEFITS OF KRISHAK BANDHU SCHEME

There are many benefits of the Krishak Bandhu scheme as announced by the Chief Minister of West Bengal state that is MS Mamata Banerjee. Some of the benefits are given below:-

• A life cover insurance of rupees 200000 will be given to every beneficiary as per the scheme.
• Insurance cover will be provided to all of the farmers who die accidentally in the process of implementation of the scheme.
• The crop cover Insurance of rupees 5000 will be given in two installments to the beneficiaries.
• A 3 thousand crores rupees budget is decided for the implementation of this scheme.
• Insurance cover will be provided in between 15 days after the death of the victim.
• The premium for Crop Insurance will also be provided by the state government to all of the beneficiaries under the scheme.
• Rupees 5,000 per acre in two installments are also provided to the beneficiaries, one in Kharif and the other in Rabi season.

COMPONENTS OF THE SCHEME

There are two components of the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu scheme for the year 2020 as mentioned below:-

• Assured Income- Under the assured income, financial assistance will be provided to all of the farmers and the beneficiaries which will be selected in the scheme. The scheme has two more options given below:-
  • Farmers with one or more acre landholding are entitled to get Rs. 5000 p.a for both Rabi & Kharif Seasons.
    • 1st installment will be provided in the month of June
    • 2nd installment will be provided in the month of November.
  • Also, farmers would be given minimum assistance of Rs. 2000 per annum on a pro-rata basis.
• Death Benefit- Under the death benefit scheme, the families of the farmers would be provided with Rs. 2 lakh including suicide. All the farmers whose age is in between 18 to 60 years can avail new insurance policy benefits.
